Should an agent with a vested interest in the sale of the home control which inspectors a prospective homebuyer can use? Many real estate agents give out a list of "preferred" inspectors to prospective buyers. Homebuyers: Beware - inspectors that are on a "Preferred List"!,  while some make the list because they are "fair to the house" or they are "non-alarmists".

It is inappropriate or unethical for a real estate agent to also do home inspections?
